1.Primary factors: Operating pressure and output
Due to differences in processed products and processes, the operating pressure of various extrusion lines ranges from 10MPa to 60MPa. Generally, single plate screen changers, with their simple structure, can withstand the highest operating pressure, while self cleaning screen changers have the lowest pressure resistance.
Conversely, single plate screen changers have limited filtration capacity due to their small filtration area. In contrast, self-cleaning screen changers, with their unique design, enable efficient and continuous filtration, with a maximum output of up to 3000kg/h.
2.Next: Production process requirements
Determine whether need to change screen without stopping the machine (or reducing screw pressure). For example, production lines for film blowing, wire drawing, and pipe extrusion require continuous operation, thus demanding non-stop screen changes with minimal pressure fluctuation during the process—otherwise, product quality or output may be compromised. For such scenarios, double piston or double filter cylinder screen changers are recommended over plate type ones.
